The Great Strait Raft Race Sunday June 2nd

Once again SEAS will be participating in the raft race from Y Felinheli.

The rafts can take up to 6 and we’ll build up to 3 rafts depending on numbers. Paddlers need to be able to support themselves and be confident floating in the water. We will support each raft with one of our own safety boats.

The race begins at 1pm in Y Felinheli and we will meet in the morning to organise teams and perhaps eat a few bacon butties. The race is along the Menai Strait, past the Conway Centre, through the Swellies and finishes at Menai Bridge. For those of you who want an early burger, our rafts can finish at the Conway Centre dock. We’ll all end up at the Conway Centre for a BBQ and to dismantle the rafts.

Supporters are encouraged to cheer the paddlers off at the start and at the end of the race. We will only be able to take supporters afloat if we are able to source a spare boat as we need to ensure space in the safety boats for each paddler (just in case Jon’s knots aren’t good 😉)

To plan, we need to know who is coming. There will be sign up sheets at the event on Tuesday 21st or you can email participate@seassailability.org.uk

Get in touch if you have any questions.
