Our first evening session of the 2026 season was a resounding success. It was fantastic to see the Menai Strait busy with our boats again and to catch up with everyone after the winter break. While the social side of SEAS is the heart of what we do, we also love seeing our participants grow in confidence through the RYA Sailability and Powerability schemes.
Awards for Everyone: How it Works
The beauty of the Sailability (sailing) and Powerability (powerboating) schemes is that they are not high-pressure exams. They are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical or cognitive needs.
Your Pace: There is no time limit. You can tick off one skill this week and another three weeks later.
Your Way: The awards are entirely modular. Whether you prefer helping as crew to steering to knot-tying, we focus on what you enjoy and what you can do.
Your Milestone: For some, an award is about mastering a complex manoeuvre. For others, it’s about the confidence to simply spend time on the water. Both are equally celebrated here.
We have seen some brilliant progress recently:
✓ Josh has successfully completed his Bronze Powerability Award. This recognizes his competence and confidence in handling a powerboat—a huge achievement!
✓ Aaron is currently working toward his Entry Sailing Award and his Bronze Powerboat Award, successfully completing several key sections last night.
If you’d like to start tracking your own journey, just have a chat with one of our volunteers at the next session.
