Raft success and full access restored for Wednesday

The SEAS All Afloat team took to the Menai Strait this past weekend for the annual Great Straits Raft Race, and we are delighted to share that the crew secured our best-ever result, finishing in an incredible 12th place.

The atmosphere on the water was fantastic, culminating in a dramatic sprint finish as our crew powered across the line.

It was a magnificent team effort. Stephen, Lucy, and Huw all worked tirelessly on the paddles, and we were delighted to welcome Julie, who joined the team while visiting the area on holiday from New Zealand. A special mention must also go to Alex, who stepped in at the very last minute to provide some crucial extra power at the back of the raft.

We would like to extend our thanks to everyone who gave up their Saturday morning to help construct the rafts, to our shoreside supporters, and to our dedicated safety boat volunteers who ensured the entire event ran smoothly and safely.

Wednesday Evening Session: Full Access Restored

We are keeping the momentum going with our next evening session this week, Wednesday 27th May, starting at 5:30 pm at the Conway Centre dock.

We are very pleased to report that the repairs to the pontoon bridge have been completed. This means that full, stable access is restored, and our regular equipment can be fully utilized again.

To ensure the session is as comfortable as possible:

  • The Buggy Service: Our arrangement with the National Trust continues. The accessible buggy will be available on demand to assist anyone who finds the hill to and from the car park difficult. Please just look for the SEAS notice boards when you arrive.

  • The BBQ: We will be gathering after our time on the water for our regular social BBQ.

Whether you want to try out your paddling skills after watching the race or simply want to catch up with friends over a burger, we look forward to seeing you tomorrow evening.

Please visit our events page to RSVP if you are planning to attend, though spontaneous arrivals are always welcome.
