Merger Announcement: SEAS Sailability and All Afloat Join Forces to Expand Inclusive Sailing and Water-sports Opportunities
Wales – We are excited to announce that SEAS Sailability and All Afloat have
merged charities to form a single, unified organisation dedicated to expanding
inclusive sailing and adventurous outdoor opportunities across Wales.
The new charity is to be named ‘SEAS All Afloat’.
This merger brings together two established and respected organisations, each with
a proven commitment to making sailing and the outdoors accessible to individuals of
all ages and abilities.
By combining their resources, expertise, and passionate teams, the new
organisation will be better positioned to expand its reach, improve its services, and
support a wider range of participants. The goal is to ensure that sailing and the
outdoors will be enjoyed by all, regardless of physical, mental, or social challenges.
“We are thrilled to combine our efforts and grow the opportunities available to people
with disabilities and other barriers to participation,” said Phil Tilley, Trustee of All
Afloat. “This merger allows us to build on the strengths of both organisations,
creating a stronger and more impactful entity that will be able to make a difference in
even more lives.”
Richard Horovitz, Chair of Trustees of SEAS Sailability, added, “We know that what
our charities do change lives for the better. Together, we can offer even more
resources and activities that allow more marginalised people to experience the joy
and freedom of being on the water and the confidence that brings. That confidence is
taken into their daily life and empowers them to achieve more. It works”.

Key Highlights of the Merger:
Increased Reach: The merger will allow the new organisation to serve even more
communities and expand access to sailing for people with disabilities and other
underserved groups across Wales.
Enhanced Programs and Services: A broader range of inclusive sailing and
outdoor activity programs will be developed, providing more opportunities for
individuals of all abilities to participate.
Stronger Volunteer Network: Combining the strengths of both organisations
volunteer bases will create a more robust and dedicated support system for
participants and the organisation as a whole.
Investment in Infrastructure and Equipment: The merger enables the
organisation to invest in new boats, accessible facilities, and equipment, ensuring
that all participants can enjoy a safe and enriching experience on the water.
As part of the merger, all current programs, services, and volunteer opportunities will
continue uninterrupted. In the coming months, additional details regarding upcoming
events, activities, and new initiatives will be shared with the public.
About SEAS Sailability:
Established in 2017, SEAS Sailability is committed to making water sports
accessible for all. Supported by grants from The National Lottery, SEAS Sailability
provided accessible sailing and waterborne experiences for disabled people with
physical or learning disabilities, their families, carers and supporters. Trained by
SEAS volunteers, many have gained NGB Qualifications in powerboating, kayaking,
canoeing and paddleboarding that have allowed them to transition from ‘participant’
to volunteer, helping others to enjoy time on the water.
SEAS Sailability has gained nationally recognised expertise in the provision of
waterborne activities for the disabled and has created a supportive and inclusive
environment focusing on empowering disabled people, their families and carers to
discover the freedom and excitement of sailing and other water-based activities,
taking the confidence that gives back into their lives.
About All Afloat:
All Afloat has been a leading organisation in providing inclusive sailing and boating
opportunities, creating pathways for young people across Wales to experience the
joy of sailing and water-sports, regardless of background or ability. Since its
foundation in 2017, through its innovative programs, All Afloat has worked to break
down the barriers to water-sports and increase access to sailing and boating for
disadvantaged youth and young people with disabilities across Wales.
Since its inception the charity has supported ten RYA Training Centres across North,
West, and South Wales, delivering over £150,000 worth of projects. These initiatives
have provided over 4,500 sessions for more than 3,500 young participants, opening
clear pathways to RYA certification, Introduction to Sailing, Stage 1 and 2, and
Dinghy Instructor certifications.
